Events

There are some special events in the year

Pagan Celebrations

Picture
Throughout the year, Saxonhouse is delighted to host events in the pagan calendar. Two local groups celebrate some of the seasonal rituals at the site: Abus Coritani, (North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire) and Lindum Circle (Lincoln). Some of these are open events – all are family friendly. All involve a beautiful ritual, friendship, food - and a bonfire!

If you are interested, do contact either group on Facebook.

The Dawn Chorus Camp

Picture
Saxonhouse has enjoyed hosting its own Dawn Chorus camp on a number of occasions. This has, at times, coincided with The International Dawn Chorus Day, although sometimes it has, because of other events, taken place on a different day in May. We begin the evening with a bonfire and camp supper, then camp – or stay up all night talking! – and rise with the birds about 5 am and identify the different species as they wake and sing. About 7 am it’s time for a camp breakfast! An invitation to The Dawn Chorus Camp 2016 was one of the presents offered to those who supported the Kickstarter campaign, which funded the renovation of the thatched roof.

Storytelling

On occasions we have had a very good evening sharing stories and poetry in Saxonhouse. Add some mead or mulled wine and food - and a warming fire - and you have a wonderful way to spend a summer evening. Last time we even had the Perseids putting on a display for us!
